Emergency Preparedness Week is a national event supported by Public Safety Canada, working closely with provincial emergency management organizations, non-governmental organizations, and private sector organizations who support activities at the local level.
Everyone has a role to play in an emergency. Emergency Preparedness Week is an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you are prepared to protect yourself, your family and your community during an emergency. This year, the theme is Be Prepared. Know Your Risks. The intent of the theme is to encourage Canadians to understand the risks in their area and learn what actions they can take to protect themselves and their families.
Stony Plain Fire Department will be hosting a free event on May 11 from 10 AM to 3 PM to highlight just a few of the agencies that may be required in the event of an emergency. Activities this year include:
Meet and greet with Sparky the Fire Dog
Photo opportunities with emergency responders and equipment
Opportunities to gather information from stakeholders in the area
The Stony Plain Youth Centre hosted concession (charges apply)
